Monster Energy Cup (MEC) is all about generating maximum racing excitement and introducing creative, challenging race elements; this year was no different. The course was designed by Feld Motor Sports with help from five-time Monster Energy Supercross champion Ricky Carmichael and was built by Dirt Wurx and All Access.
While many of the classic MEC course features remained the same, the course design underwent a number of changes from last year. The biggest change was the start gate. For the first time since 2011, the racers started inside of Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas. The most surprising part: the start line was elevated at a height of 12 feet, which is unheard of in the history of Supercross.
Inside the stadium, All Access provided the course structures, including the elevated start gate, finish line arch, AMSOIL “track-in-the-stands” arch, flyover bridge, Hole Shot arch, “the Beast” leaderboard tower, winners podium, multiple managers and officials towers, and a VIP area with DJ platform.
All Access also provided many of the pre-race event structures outside of the stadium, including the MMA fight ring deck, drift car structures, rider signage, Monster Energy VIP hospitality structure, Fox Sports 1 broadcast desk, and the BMX winners podium.
