Electro-Mechanical and Hydraulics Assistant Supervisor

SUMMARY:

Working in tandem with the Electro-Mechanical and Hydraulics Manager, the Electro-Mechanical and Hydraulics Assistant Supervisor will be a key member of the department, utilizing their expert understanding of machinery and control systems to execute detailed projects with demanding deadlines. This position will develop strong relationships with members of the Electro-Mechanical & Hydraulics team as well as internal Rentals, Fabrication, CAD, Sales & Project Management departments. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are critical in this role. This position will also aid in the supervision of the EM & Hydraulics team in the detailed design of equipment and the verification of their work to ensure it is correct in terms of function and compliance. The ideal candidate for this role will be hands-on, have a good work ethic, be able to work in a fast-paced environment and learn quickly. This is an exempt hourly position that includes eligibility for PTO, health insurance, and 401k program after probationary period.

JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Identify, build, operate and maintain automated electro-mechanical and hydraulic equipment (lifts, turntables, winches, misc. stage effects, etc.)
  • Manage the installation of LED lighting for custom sets
  • Read and create schematics at a high level with a thorough understanding of the relevant technology
  • Perform the detailed hardware design of the power and control cabinets for entertainment automation projects
  • Liaise with external clients and other departments to ensure designs co-ordinate with site and technical requirements
  • Prepare correct first-time designs for manufacturing, installation and commissioning.
  • Perform and record calculations to prove that the design works correctly and meets the relevant standard
  • Utilize computer to catalog parts, log maintenance activities, and generate schedules for onsite crew
  • Produce and maintain detailed material lists and assembly drawings, interfacing regularly with the purchasing department.
  • Take on any other responsibilities or tasks which are within the employee’s skills and abilities whenever reasonably instructed.
  • Research new products that meet the technical and design needs

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • High School diploma or equivalent required, advanced degree preferred
  • Reliable transportation
  • Clean and neat appearance
  • Ability to work weekends and overtime
  • Hand tools (Not required but a plus)
  • Valid driver license
  • Forklift certified (Will Train)
  • Ability to read and understand electrical schematics
  • Thorough understanding of motor control technology
  • Thorough understanding of the electro-mechanical power calculations
  • Power supply and cabling sizing
  • 5+ years’ work experience in a relevant position
  • Great attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to supervise a team of people
